Existentialism and Nihilism
Existensialism
The feeling of intense dread that comes about when a person gets struck with the experience of reponsibility or freewill, for instance a common example is when standing on the edge of a cliff, at this point one fears falling down the cliff and also dreads the thought of throwing oneself, however the very action of throwing oneself or falling has no predecates and therefore cannot be absolutely quantified in terms of outcome, this is a classic example of human freedom and freewill that brings existensialism to those who think about it.
Existensialism means that every person was born as a blank slate each person being responsible for creating their own meaning, philosphers like Albert Camus rejected this and instead argued that everyone is connected by a shared human nature bonded by common goals and one such goal is to seek meaning. Camus asked one important question, If life is truly meaningless, is suicide the only rational option? well......, no, i dont think so. The universe we are in is indifferent and cold, our own earth is unjust and cruel, but choosing to live regardless is the deepest expression of freedom!
Nihilism
It's important to appreciate just how quickly life can end, and what preceeds it is absolutely nothing, no special drum beat or occassion. We have the most complex thing in the entire universe inside our skulls and therefore in essence a single human being can be at any moment the rarest form of life in the conceivable universe, but this does not by any means mean that we are special, space itself is dead filled by a vacuum of endless nothingness and mystyfying dread.
The very illusion of choice, free will is because we have an intelligent mind, we have in a century or less created things that would completely destroyed us and despite the threat we continously keep doing this; however from what we currently know, our planet is the only one that support's life or at least has the perfect conditions to support it. here is whats funny, a shift in global temperatures, a deadly virus or even a slight change in magnetic waves that protect our earth from deadly sun rays and we are all gone, and the universe will go on....
The slightest optimism we have from this is the fact that there is only one life (scary but sets you free), after this it's just death and no one knows what happens next but what's for sure is you cease to exist and it's Goodbye broadway, the very a-morality and unjustfullness of life make's everyone dread every now and then, example is "good things happen to good people" - Big sham, bad things, good things good people or not it happens to anyone, and its both a tragedy and a messed justaposition between life and humans themselves.
